About MIC DUB

Born and raised in rural North Carolina, MIC (pronounced “Mike”) DUB was fully immersed in all things music as a child. His mother, grandparents, uncles and aunts were well known in his community as blues and gospel musicians. MIC would draw upon this rich musical tradition as he and his brother became a fixture in local dance competitions and talent shows. He would also use his knowledge of music to better understand the history of African-Americans and the African diaspora. To this day, whether djing a set or speaking to audiences around the world, he readily incorporates multi-genre musical references and elements to increase the listening experience.

MIC was introduced to the power of the DJ during his first middle school dance. He was immediately enthralled by the DJs ability to change the atmosphere of an event with his song selection, personal style and technique. As self-professed “hip hop heads,” MIC and his brother were known for taking over the dance floor with the latest urban dance, gymnastics and tumble moves. MIC would use this passion for music to eventually launch his DJ career. His brother would also draw upon these experiences to become an entrepreneur and featured announcer in the gymnastics/tumbling field.

After years of sitting in on his mentor DJ’s sets and carrying speakers, MIC embarked on his DJing career at the turn of the 21st century. Since that time he has dj’d from the upper mid-Atlantic states down to Florida. His dj work has also taken him to Cancun Mexico where he has dj’d at the Now Jade Riviera Cancun Resort. He prides himself on working alongside the resort staff and venue owners to ensure a top-notch event for his clients. A list of locations where MIC has dj’d is located below.
